Tips for Foot Care

Looking after your feet is essential to staying healthy and active, especially if you’re managing a condition like diabetes or arthritis. At Foot Balance Technology (FBT), we’re committed to helping you keep your feet in top shape with these easy tips. Wash your feet daily with warm water and mild soap, and always dry them thoroughly, especially between the toes. This helps prevent infections and keeps your skin healthy.

Use a good foot cream to moisturise the tops and bottoms of your feet. Avoid putting cream between your toes, as too much moisture there can lead to fungal infections. Footwear plays a huge role in foot health. Make sure your shoes fit properly – not too tight and not too loose. Wearing custom or supportive footwear can help prevent problems like blisters and ulcers, especially for people with diabetes.

I'm Sayed Ahmed, Founder of FBT and Australia’s first PhD in Pedorthics and I can’t stress enough how important it is to have well-fitted shoes. At FBT, we offer custom footwear solutions to keep your feet protected and comfortable.

Additionally, always rememeber to cut your toenails straight across and not too short to avoid ingrown nails. If you struggle to reach or see well enough to trim your nails, it’s worth visiting a podiatrist regularly. Get into the habit of inspecting your feet for any cuts, blisters, redness,or swelling. Catching small issues early can prevent them from turning into bigger problems. If you notice anything unusual, seek advice from a healthcare professional.

Exercise is great for circulation, including in your feet. Walking, swimming or simply stretching your feet and legs can help keep blood flowing and reduce the risk of foot complications.
